I'm from Guatemala, and I develop creative proyects and high-impact images for advertising campaigns.
Professional photographer and visual artist. Gamer, movies and tv series addict, avid book and comic book reader, and passionate musician. I'm an artist with a fascination for creating photo-realistic and of a cinematic-style images by means of art with miniatures, scale models and action figures, creative photography with practical effects, and digital art. My goad is to cheat the eye for at least a second.
I studied Photography at the Universidad Rafael Landívar de Guatemala (Rafael Landívar University of Guatemala). Started out working as a social event photographer (weddings, graduations, e.g.), but soon opened my own studio and made the transition to advertising doing product shot, and promotional photography.
But something was missing. I have always liked to create, to portray my point of view to let the imagination flow, and looking for a way to express myself through photography, something amazing happened: I discovered what they call Toy Photography, or, better said, stumbled upon it, and with it I discovered a whole new world of endless possibilities where I could let my creative side flow, and where I could do anything my mind wanted. I found myself.
I have a thing for lighting and the cinematic look-it comes natural to me-, so at the beginning I was fascinated with being able to recreate movies, tv series, and video games scenes with toys, but I soon discoverd that the potential of it all was infinite, that I could create my own worlds
I can honestly say I learned a whole lot more about lighting and photography in general doing toy photography than with anything else. So much, that I constantly find myself applying the techniques I’ve learned to other types of photography.
My vision is to try and represent, to depict the things I see in my head and dreams, and to try and make it as real looking as I can, but soon came to terms with the fact that photography alone wasn’t going to cut it, that it was just one of the many vehicles I would have to use to achieve my goal. I needed to learn new things. So, I had to expand my horizons and understood that I had to immerse myself in the digital aspect of creating, and quickly fell in love with digital art.
Thus, Toy Photography led me to Miniature and Scale Model Photography and to Compositing.
I understood then the endless possibilities this offers me and my clients, given that all the knowledge and experience I have acquired make me the perfect vehicle through which they can bring to life their concepts and fill their needs, to help them communicate their ideas in a highly effective way through this incredible art form. That, and the fact that this offers a lower production cost rate compared to that of real zise productions.
